Three Saturdays ago we decided we where going to get rid of the paci for good. One of my biggest pet peeves with kids is a 3 year old walking around with one in their mouths!!! I asked Savannah if she wanted to send all her pacies to the babies in heaven and she replied "No Jack" (my friend Jamie's baby). So we washed them all and put them in a baggie so we could take them to Jack. After that I didn't let her see them again until we went on a playdate to take Jack his (pink and purple LOL) pacies!! Savannah had only gotten it at nap times for as long as I can remember. So that meant stressful nap times and bed times for Mommy (and Daddy too.) It probably took her a few times sleeping without it before she realized I wasn't going to give it to her. Overall she has done really good without it. By the way Klara got rid of her paci too in the process!! She loved that thing and J talked her into throughing it in the garbage one day and its been gone since (not without having to cry herself to sleep a few times though).
Without S having the comfort from the paci to go to sleep with she has been asking to get rocked for her nap and at bedtime. Which isn't a bad thing..... It does give J and I nice cuddle time with her. Right now we are trying to deal with her bad dreams (about Bert, Ernie and Barney). She has even woken up in the middle of the night 2 times crying and scared. I hate not being able to take that fear away but I do all I can to comfort her.
I'm also still trying to potty train her. Really she isn't that interested in it. She has poo pooed in the potty a lot of times (due to constipation and me being able to catch her before she did anything....plus lets face it its hard to poop standing up LOL)!!! It's all a work in progress for sure. I get aggravated after taking her to the potty 20 times a day and her still peeing in her pull-up.....so its not just her its me too. If you think about it pray for my patients in the matter. :) Hopefully it will all work it's way out soon!
